These week’s pie was at the request of my Dad. Simple and All-American. Apple pie. A staple in any pie repertoire.
{Week 25} Classic Apple
Pie 1 double crust pastry
3 lbs fresh apples, peeled, cored and sliced (I used honey crisp and golden delicious)
1/2 c sugar
1/4 c flour (heaping)
1 tsp cinnamon
1 TBS lemon juice
1 pinch of salt
4-5 TBS butter
20 Red Hot cinnamon candies (because Dad asked)
Whisk together the dry ingredients and toss with apples. Add lemon juice and place mixture in prepared pie crust. Sprinkle pats of butter and the red hots over apples before placing the top pastry on the pie. Bake pie at 350 for 50-60 min, until pastry is golden and filling is bubbly. Enjoy!
